Got some time to get coloring again! Here's a process image where I took a piece posted by @JP7art and test-flatted the lineart. I'm going to work on those background lights & table edging, but I think this color scheme works and will finish flats and try shading.

Stylistically, a big inspiration for #RosewaterGame's characters sprites is mid-90s LucasArts, "realistic cartoon" as seen in Full Throttle and the cancelled Indiana Jones and the Iron Phoenix.
I'm using realistic proportions but keeping the high contrast shading. Works for me!

Really it's just a soft brush with a simple texture, which is great for painting more fluid transitions and softer shading.
Wasn't sure exactly what to draw tonight, so I tried drawing in the Hollow Knight artstyle since I haven't in a while, this time with more of a painted effect to the shading.
