@skiesrainforest I guess there is no harm in sharing. I use a brush that is very similar to a graphite brush. It gives my shading a strange texture I like. I do 2-3 layers of shading and highlights. I like adding the refelected light the most. :) these are added on solid color layers.

@SO0u0o Yes, its basically rudimentary tone-blocking and its part of how our brain registers first contact visual information. You are essentially highlighting the silhouette, which is super important for readability in visual art.
