I think it can be done right if they don't show every angle that a typical 3D animation would. A bigger emphasis shading and linework has a giant role in this too.

Certainly some of the more complex hair I've drawn in awhile.

Accidentally started drawing the linework on a file that was MUCH too small and had to AI upscale it. Whoops. At least I caught it really quickly. It just had to be the faces though...

Spending my evening doing the only thing that matters: colouring Ian's gorgeous linework of our favourite dirty, weird, hobo man, maybe king https://t.co/ISv0HMGOxH

Gen 8 - Again, not all Sugimori. Likely James Turner this time

The linework looks shaky again, though it appears to more digital, like with a 'noise' brush. More noticable watercolor-like splotches with the highlights and shades. Looks more rough/sloppy/grungy in certain parts.

Glow-up for a piece from a few months ago. Still trying to strike the balance between my own style the inspiration. I love good linework but I cant seem to pull it off, and nowadays I'm moving away from it entirely. I miss it, but I'm improving!

Alternate version of Kurt&Leni Valentines Day kiss without memories in the background and with some more winter coloring
Once again, thank you for inspiration. Coloring the linework makes picture way more vivid :)

Breathed a little bit of life into this older piece, lost the original linework but salvaged it from a screenshot, fixed things up while I was at it!

A collab with ! He did the initial linework and excellent anatomy, and I added some values and color on top, then pushed some of the lines back in.

Go give DJ a watch if you haven't already -- his work is stellar and absolutely worth your time. <3 Thank you, DJ!!
