I grew up reading the zany Spy vs Spy adventures in Mad magazine, so it was a real thrill to get to illustrate these characters. The Island Caper was the second Spy VS Spy game and it was released on the NES platform in 1987.

Some progress :) Same deal as level 1: 50% of the background tiles are fixed for the entire level and each screen uses 25% of them so I can alternate and have more unique tiles for the stage. Krusty impersonator has a single sprite overlay on the face. #NES #Simpsons #pixelart

So I was browsing the Spriters Resource when I came across a Russian bootleg NES game called "Balda" and in it is this funny looking... fish I guess? I don't know what they're is supposed to be...

Anyway something compelled me to draw them.
