A mixture of things! I really like stars as a symbolic concept and wanted to incorporate that in a hedgehog’s quills! I looked at Toei Sonic and the way sonic looked in the Sonic OVA for inspiration. Red is my favorite color too so I looked at Kirishima from Mha for a spiky look!

I like the Junio / Toei sonic because he is so stylized and fun! However for that reason I find it very difficult to replicate.

Something I found interesting: Bobanbo (the male character) has a completely different design in the TV version, while Babanba (the female) remains mostly the same. I've found nothing explaining why, but I have to imagine Toei found issue with the design.

Slam Dunk, une des séries les plus populaires dans les années 90, et qui devait arriver dans le club Do, fit un flop quand Toei vidéo sortait en France en 1999 les 2 VHS en VF. Mauvais timing, mauvaise décision éditoriale et une grande série de qualité passe inaperçue... dommage.
