I usually draw/ink on paper, scan my drawings into the computer, and do my coloring/shading digitally. I don’t do a lot of “analog” shading.

So here’s a couple redraws of official art done as an attempt to practice pen shading. As always, feel free to give feedback.

I feel like my art is more consistent to the style I truly want when I actually draw it on paper first and then finish it digitally.

I started doing that back in 2018, but stopped, because I didn’t like drawing on paper, but the results seem better. ✍🏾

I use a layer set to screen as the blend mode, and then use a soft brush to draw in the glow. This is from a piece last year. Drawn in my sketchbook then fiddled with digitally.

So I drew the White Reach spartan figure just now. As you can see, I was going to make another commissions sheet, but I decided I would do a full drawing of him on paper and refine it digitally. I’ll make a sheet for him once I do that. Here he is now
