Goku realizing it's a dream can hear everyone outside of his subconscious and he tries to get Vegeta to wake him up.

The Story (so far)
It takes place within a dreamscape, Goku's subconscious. It's reminecent of Movie 8's New Planet Vegeta ruined landscape but Silent Hill. DB creates the atmosphere with low-morale tactical depictions of the fighters already defeated with Goku last one standing.

The fighter cannot be killed in the nightmare but they can feel the pain inflicted to them. It's the notion of being stuck in a torturous loop of fighting hence "nightmare". The subconscious is aware but the body is paralyzed. You can apply this to any opponent or villain.

These works reveal the themes of the subconscious and dreams. Complex symmetrical images of animals, as if born from surreal dreams, but echoing the reality.
