THANK YOU !! I do a base level of shading and keep adding to the dark parts, then I add some lighter overlay in places that I want to be lighter, then I finish it off with some more harsh shading! I also add another color to the other side of the character (in this case, blue!)

So I posted that singing and haven’t really been happy with it. I tried to not do such harsh black lines, but I kinda think it works. And its a cover for a comic basically composed of black outlines. So I did this mock up and yeah, I’m gonna go back and add outlines.
