What do you make of this beautiful painting, Creepy Covers? It's called 'Abbey in the Oak Forest,' by Caspar David Friedrich, 1810. Why are the monks carrying a coffin past a freshly opened grave, at night, and into the ruined church? A funeral service or something more sinister?

The Regency Period saw the first flourishing of the English Novel, with classics such as Pomp & Prudishness, Nonsense & Nonsensibility, Coathanger Abbey, Prunes & Precognition & the haunting tale of poor Cathy, who was dragged down by the dead Cliffheath into the Withering Depths

For those who are curious about my artwork (for the vibes and compositions etc), Caspar David Friedrich flows in the marrow of my creative psyche:

1. The Monk by the Sea
2. The Sea of Ice
3. Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog
4. The Abbey in the Oakwood

At the end of July, 1441, Eleanor Cobham fled to sanctuary in Westminster Abbey. It quickly became clear why; members of her household had accused her of hiring them to predict the king's death and, by implication, kill the king with nefarious magic.
