My headcanon for Azem: he's a gremlin who likes to tease Hades. Hythlo just adds fuel to the fire. He's very, very good at begging ppl's favor using his big puppy dog eyes (Hades' weakness). Some traits like fangs n green eyes, may appears in his shards, but only Loka has both.
