On the 28th of June 1948, Ken Ishikawa was born. Mentored by the great Go Nagai, Ishikawa would go on to create the iconic Getter Robo franchise in 1974. He sadly passed away on the 15th of November, 2006 due to sudden heart failure.

Oh boy, we get to a personal favorite. Go Nagai is someone I look up to whenever I started to build on the foundation for my style. There's just something about his mech and monster designs that really get my blood pumping, but his artwork has a very unique charm to it, ya know?

The thing I love about UFO Robot Grendizer is that Go Nagai wanted to make another Mazinger series but Toei kept shooting him down. So he made a mech that isn't a Mazinger, but still carries elements of one.

He's like "fine, it won't be a Mazinger, it'll just be a Mazinger lol"
