Time to add some color! I use colored pencils as my medium, and layer colors where necessary. You can see it most clearly in Periwinkle's tentacles and blazer!
Her ink and eye color is a blend of lavender and magenta. Her blazer sports shades of gray and navy blue.

I still like the idea of giving Mervis multiple hair styles throughout the story.

Like, having an ability to change your hair without needing to get it cut or waiting for it to grow, but being able to easily style it would be handy...when using Magenta Mode.
