Who would be best suited to take on Batman’s foes?
Vote in the latest Back in the Bronze Age poll!
One of my favorite Denny O’Neil Batman stories is Batman: Venom. In which Batman battles drug addiction, something Denny often talked about struggling with as well.
Worth the time to track down. Small in scale, but I’d say a HUGE event in Batman’s canon.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the return of Colonel Sulphur in Warren Ellis & @THEBRYANHITCH’s excellent series BATMAN’S GRAVE. Sulphur was created by Denny O’Neil & Irv Novick in BATMAN #241. I wrote & interviewed Denny about this story in my book THE BATCAVE COMPANION.
The Joker is literally Batman’s Arch Nemesis , he has been in Batman comics since Batman #1 1940 - You can’t possibly do a Whole Batman trilogy without having Joker in it . Its like doing a Superman trilogy without lex luthor in it .
These Batman’s by @shaylurie deserve some love and some retweets! Great art! 👍 https://t.co/YMusb3Ml2O
Len Wein & Bernie Wrightson’s #Elseworlds #Batman: Nevermore joined Batman with one of the most well known macabre writers of the detective genre, Edgar Allan Poe, keeping a tradition of celebrating Gothic literature within Batman’s mythos. https://t.co/1KzPN4jsCX #WorldGothDay
Sketch 38! As chosen by the high bidder of Hawkgirl is Batman’s foe: the BLACK MASK! Pen ink & whiteout on 9x12” board. 3 day auction w/proceeds going to benefit comic shops via @BincFoundation. Winner of this auction chooses the next DC character I draw!https://t.co/oZXYQbawMh
Martha Wayne’s debut in 1939’s Detective Comics #33 was part of Bill Finger’s debut of the #Batman’s origin story. This set up the tragic murder of Bruce’s parents, the catalyst into Bruce training to become the Dark Knight. https://t.co/KOtLEooPNw

batman’s devil horned cowl and white outlined emblem from the 40s serials is a really cool look I’d like to see return.
Ra’s al Ghul, the Leader of the League of Assassins, is one of Batman’s oldest and most dangerous foes. In this concept from Batman : Arkham City we see him suspended above one of the few remaining Lazarus Pits that have allowed him to live for centuries.
This is exactly Huntress: Cry for Blood (2000), Batman’s general disdain for the Question is my favorite

In these concepts for Batman: Arkham City we see Mr. Freeze who is caught in the middle of Batman’s war on Crime. In one hand he holds the cure to Batman’s illness and in the other the chance to save his love, Nora, who is held captive by the Joker.
•The Homemade Batsuit
•Muscle Car Batmobile
•Batman’s Early Years
• The Riddler
•The Penguin
Once again I’m gonna say that #TheBatman 🦇 is heavily influenced by Batman: Earth One
@DT2ComicsChat @NemesisFC2 Here’s the thought. What if #theBatman’s Gotham is more like a period flick set some time in the past, but almost anachronistic in it’s use of low tech & old-fashioned steam... avoiding punk. But if they throw us w/ a Trigger Twins casting or Tweedle Dee/Dum w/ Wonderland Gang...
Preview de The Batman’s Grave #6 par @WarrenEllis, @TheBryanHitch et Alex Sinclair (@sinccolor) chez @DCComics #Batman https://t.co/cR3i1Jz1Z1
Rereading @grantmorrison’s run on Batman. Absolutely, extraordinary! I’m amazed by Morrison’s ability to pull in so much from Batman’s past, going back to 1939 & keep it all within the context of his long storyline. What he & the artists did was redefine the character’s world.
