I'd try looking for implied guides in the drawing and then looking for checkpoints where the curve of the line changes. It's still up to interpretation, but you end up focusing more on the big picture (literally) than smaller details.

i'm just built diff,, i like to sketch bc it's really fun doing jagged lines, being able to fuck up, brainstorming and setting the contrast for the piece, and also lineart bc i get to use pressure brushes + make all the curves jagged/straight lines curved for whatever reason

I kept the shadows pretty saturated and made the lighter ones have a warmer tone and the darker ones cooler, but the opposite also looks good. For the background i just kinda picked random colors at first, made the highlights darker using the tone curve, (2/x)
