It's been Pikachu's up special (i.e. "recovery" move) since the original Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64.
Though if Emolga keeps that move as a recovery move, being able to glide out of it is possible and would work with the end of QA's animation.

Pikachu's Belly:
In some of his earliest official artwork, Pikachu is depicted as having a white belly. His sprites from Red, Green, and Blue reflect this early design as well.
But by the time Gen 1 came to a close, the belly had disappeared and Pikachu's body was solid yellow.

Gigantamax Pikachu has been revealed. Pikachu's Electric-type attacks become G-Max Move, G-Max Volt Crash, which deals damage and paralyzes all opponents. Players can obtain Pikachu that can Gigantamax if they have Let's Go, Pikachu! save data. This Pikachu cannot evolve.
