Maurice Sendak´s illustrations for I Want To Paint My Bathroom Blue by Ruth Krauss (1956) prefigured his famous illustrations for Where The Wild Things Are (1964).
“And the wild things roared their terrible roars & gnashed their terrible teeth & rolled their terrible eyes & showed their terrible claws".

Good morning it’s wild again so today’s #illustrator & author is Maurice Sendak Where the Wild Things Are. Always makes me think of my son when he was younger if only for the love of a onesie! Learnt today the monsters were meant to be horses but they were harder to draw! #books
@mrjamesmayhew One of my favourites is The Nutcracker illustrated by Maurice Sendak #BookIllustrationOfTheDay3
I said anything I wanted because I don't believe in children I don't believe in childhood. I don't believe that there's a demarcation. 'Oh you mustn't tell them that. You mustn't tell them that.' You tell them anything you want. Just tell them if it's true.

2020 was the most productive I've been. Pushed my limits, experimented, discovered new ways to make art.
I've kept building my fantasy world #Sendakro through art and stories.
I just love telling visual stories 😌
