Tonight's movie was John Carpenter's THE THING. I never tire of studying the craftsmanship in this movie from Carpenter, Cundey, Bottin and the cast. It feels so modern it could have been made last week. No CGI has ever come close to the make-up fx wizardry here. A perfect film.

The craftsmanship of animators back in 1961 was pretty darn impressive. A family movie with a fairly disturbing plot, featuring one of the studio's most iconic villains, Cruella de Vil.
