The brushes I make are specifically made for details that aren’t the main focus of an illustration. I use my bookshelf brush for backgrounds, but if a shelf is an important focus point, I’ll probably just draw it manually.
Examples: Drawn foreground books vs background shelves
Earth lines is inspired by ploughed fields but when I'm working on the foreground area, it becomes more about colour and texture interactions and abstract mark-making. The trees give focus, contrast and a sense of scale. Print sold out but cards available https://t.co/FDtE8nWKZr
Finally, I do the same process to create more elements from the player layer and the foreground layer, now I make them darker to make them contrast with the background and the player layer.
@SkaavArt Purple makes its way into all my art. I always use purple for shadows. But sometimes I still use it for the foreground character.
asemic swamp, water in the foreground, reeds, dead shrubery, early sunset sky, watercolor - made with NightCafe Creator https://t.co/emMsITbQgn #aiart #nightcafe #digitalart #stablediffusion via @NightcafeStudio
The colours and textures are carefully chosen to give the illusion of recession through space. A steady, pastel background with the boldest colours in the foreground - vibrant pinks, yellows and sea blue. A rift in the land - https://t.co/ucG4ad9ocK #landscapeartist #springtime
With this landscape, I returned to my earlier theme of seeing the landscape as a patchwork of fields. The strongly coloured foreground has a sense of the recession of plough lines but is really a great excuse for having fun with colour and pattern! https://t.co/svuaBjGdu4

Good progress today! Foreground finished up, and a good start on the main body of the plane. Thanks so much everyone for hanging out, and especially @blythebat, @phroobin & @DearMatto for the raids!
Ultimately if people looked at my comics work and see people they know/knew in them or can identify with the foreground or background characters, I'd feel like I did part of my job right 😊
fussing around and experimenting with background/foreground framing shenanigan's and I feel the power at my finger tips.
Also WIP for something later - 🐻🍊
@Sitrie_Draws This was done for me about 16 years ago towards the end of when I was playing Everquest and starting to playing World of Warcraft more. I am the gent in the foreground and the woman behind me was my then EQ Druid main Tinduiell who wanted to know why I was never around anymore.
I revisited this Super Amy piece because I wasn't happy with the way I shaded the Amy in the foreground. I figured I needed a simpler shading style so it could contrast better with the Amys in the background
I got two results from this, which one do you prefer?

Usapuppy's illustration always features lights that seem to dance across the canvas. She masterfully utilizes both background and foreground to create depth that highlights the subject's beauty. Captivating!
HOW DOES A BOSS CHARACTER NOT HAVE HIS OWN STAGE?
ANYWAY.
Think something like a temple in the forest bathed in otherworldly light. The background is people, zombies or ghosts worshipping the alter of necalli that is the foreground.
Lots of green fire. In v trigger its red.
the thrilling tale of a silhouetted figure standing in the foreground, looking at scenery
I'm still working with the mountain level assets, I decided the background is almost done so it's time for the door, walls and foreground, I'm aiming for a great sense of depth with that level!

@Betaruga1 Sure!
It all comes down to making sure the elements don't clash. In the B&W image, the distant buildings are light gray; the middle is gray, and the foreground is a darker gray. If I wanted to add value to the distant buildings, I'd use 2 shades within that gray. Make sense?
