The Dip was probably the best design from New Dinosaurs. Yeah, it's pretty much an egret with extra steps, but because of this it doesn't fall under the same tendecy of design choices - such as over-mammalian anatomy, or the super shrinking of the tail - like other creatures do.
Was helping a bud with muzzled mammalian anatomy and how I go about building the shapes for it. I referenced pages from Terryl Witchlatch's Science of Creature Design book; which has helped me a bunch. Fifth drawing is a quick demo of me (inaccurately) reffing a hell pig skeleton

Apparently Japan said its booby day so here are some of my favorite drawings ive done of women with some very large mammalian protuberances.
Platypuses have bio-luminescence. They glow blue-green. With duck bills, webbed feet, egg-laying, venom, and air sacks in their fur.
They are either alien lifeforms or the progenitor of all mammalian life.
Both possibilities are equally terrifying
Bonus Science
[Tamaakuma, the prowling beast]
Tamaakuma is a mammalian monster, using the bone like growths protruding from it's back to fight. They also posses acidic saliva, which they can launch at long ranges to incapacitate their foes.
