Sometimes when idk how to do landscapes i just add colors! It surprisingly does a lot :) also making the bg an off-white is good too 👍🏼 adding litle doodles over it can help fill up the page. For traditional art i do little patches of scribbles, outlining work in a color helps!

As I was searching for tutorials on pixel art outline styles (black, colored/shaded, none), I came across plenty that call the shaded ones 'selective outlining'. This seems to be incorrect (image via 's tutorial & other older sources indicate selout as AA from inside).
