Today I'm remembering my pre-pixel-artist days when we were making a game without knowing anything about #pixelart. These BGs have a bit of everything: tracing, colour reduction, transparent layers etc.
But they still look like pixelart.

Although resulting shapes sometimes are very elegant and aesthetic, it feels like literal overkill to make this kind of art via pixel-arting.

I'm usually pretty sceptical about any kind of 'de-pixelation' of pixel-art, but this filter is actually rather interesting. As an analytical tool, it shows how good with clusters you are.

@castpixel @ravensdojo @ScrollBoss @WIRED Yes definitely! I also just prefer Pixel-art because i find it easier to do. Just like the old days, i feel it's born out of necessity. And i don't have the time or budget to make 100 of hd drawings for a game, so i go for pixelart instead!
