I heard the background was custom made so when I saw he was online I was like "AIGHT I JUMPIN' OUT OF BED".

I also had fun listening to him talk smack about his puffle Yarr for eating his cheese lol. very epic.

9 years ago today, the Rockhopper's Quest Event started. Penguins had to help Captain Rockhopper get by Shipwreck Island safety by setting up Beacons on multiple Islands near Club Penguin.

The rockhoppers on the left are heading out to sea, the ones on the right are heading back to the rookery having been out at sea. I love the conflab they have when they meet... and the confused penguin at the end!! 😂

We all know Rockhopper and his loyal puffle Yarr, but these two weren't always a pair. The first time they met was 15 years ago, in June 2005.

Rockhopper had been alone and lost at sea for three whole months.

To his luck, he spotted another island in the distance shortly after, sailing straight towards it.

He arrived on May 27th, 2005, only to find… the same place as before. Seemingly still the only one there, he named it Rockhopper Island.

He refueled, and set off once again.

Upon arrival, Rockhopper found that the island was small, tropical, and seemingly uninhabited. Clearly, this was not his home.

An abundance of clean water and fruit trees kept the captain optimistic. He filled his barrels full and set sail again in search of Club Penguin.

Rockhopper Island was first discovered in 2005 after the Great Storm.

Towards the end of March, Rockhopper spotted an island to the east through his telescope. He hoped it was his home, as he began sailing straight towards it.

He reached shore a week later on April 5, 2005.

Rockhopper spent the next two weeks searching for his home, but found no sign of light anywhere. Assuming the storm had blown him off course, he could only go where his compass led him.

It wouldn't be long before he spotted land...

Little did he know that would be the last time he'd see it shine for a very, very long time.

On March 7, 2005, he completed his ship, dubbing it the Migrator. He planned to leave in the morning, and return the next month.

On March 8, Rockhopper was touched to see a crowd had gathered at the Dock to say their goodbyes. Even the Penguin Band was there performing for him.

Intrigued by his new look, a creative penguin approached him. They asked to create a commemorative painting before his departure. Rockhopper was happy to oblige, striking a pose atop the ship's deck.

Rockhopper built for many long months, growing a long black bushy beard in the process. As his ship neared completion, he decided to sport a fresh new look.

He donned the bold new red body paint and a captain’s hat, officially adopting the title “Captain Rockhopper.”
