I read on tumblr about a thing called "Fabiola Project", a collection of a ton of reproductions of a 1885 painting of Saint Fabiola.

These reproductions come in all sorts of media - Cross stitching, pencil, oil painting... I wanted to do my own, in pixel art.

You get great detail and resolution. This is a 45 shot panorama.

Because the movie was sourced from 16mm, that also meant the audio was an optical mono track.
I didn't like how it sounded, so I went through the process of taking Orphan Fansubs' VHS rip and painfully stitching it to the 16mm scan. It was hard 💩, but I think it came out okay!

For that same reason I wanted to add a sunset in the background, showing the passage of time. However, I still wanted a darker mood so I toned it down. I cleaned up the lineart and made sure to include stitching in the clothing, as well as proper folds and zippers in the jacket.
