I know the Sega PuyoPuyo artstyle isn't really well liked among Puyo fans compared to the Compile stuff, but it speaks volumes to me how well a lot of magical girl characters translate well into this style. Like they chose the perfect artstyle for the market their appealing too.

5th sin OC done! This is Hivemine, the Greed Sin. She's very clever at stealing and using her bees to get what she wants, but her physical appearance is more than meets the eye. She wears this outfit to hide her real not as appealing looks.
Take a look at, say, SRB2. They had to hand design a lot of environments and environmental assets, pick great color schemes that account for both looking nice as well as being clear enough for gameplay purposes.
It's visually appealing, fun to look at, and fun to play.

I think the reason for the fear is mainly because there’s a strong feeling of confusion. You’re already trusting because of their appealing character design, but at the same time untrusting of their action, causing your brain to be confused, elevating the horror.
