The Impidimp line is one of my favorites of 8th gen for this reason.

I had Night Lycanroc in mind myself; Raze too likes to tank hits and return the favor with interest. To that end the hexagons on his limbs resemble Armadillo plates but can absorb Kinetic Energy.

My original reasoning for making the town sheriff an armadillo was because I wanted the first character Romy meets to fit the aesthetic of my desert town.

I read an armadillo fact once about how they could float on water by inflating their stomachs. Nature is full of surprises.
