The best examples of Watterson's restraint with color were his snow settings. He used the white of the page and only hinted at color on the edges to create expansive winter landscapes that seemed to extend beyond the boundaries of the page.

And that is how the things are, of course, this is mostly just different people with their own takes on how to design a Digimon, but I find it interesting how at least within some settings, that is just a reflection of something that does exist in-universe.

even if those don't mention the work & research they put into their stories you can tell when an author does a lot of extra work to present us facts or realistic settings

for eye shines i make them on a different layer, add border and then fill them in white. i don't color the actual 'whites' of the eyes white either, so they really POP!!! *AND* if you don't already go into edit > tonal correction and play with the color balance and hue settings:)
