元高校球児の芸人が始球式で感涙する姿に野球ほぼ見ないご主人が貰っておる。ところで日本の始球式でバッターが空振りをする由来を知っておるかね？1908年に早稲田大学の創始者である大隈重信が大リーグ選抜対早稲田大学野球部の始球式で投げた球がボール球で、気を使ったバッターが空振りしたのだ。
