Funny enough I always used the gradient blend lol
It's with the skin being a bit darker it's just easier to see or tell there's some shading lol

Though that is his 5 o-clock shadow if that's what you're talking about too lol

this is the first time I actually did greyscale than use the color gradients to give it color. kinda like this method better than my method.
