God I'm so hyped for the new Madoka movie. Madoka actually got me into surrealism, I loved the bizarre appearances of the witches and the fact they were in a different arstyle made them feel so otherworldly. It made me want to look for more weird, experimental stuff like that.

Before P Jackson there was Ralph Bakshi. His 1978 animated version of Lord of Rings brings back happy memories of early video stores. Just revisited & reminded that landscape frames are gorgeous. Rotoscope technique still gives an other-worldly quality. Shame we never got part 2.
