First and perhaps most obvious, is the sheer size of Tylosaurus. Large specimens of T. proriger likely grew to be 40 to 50 feet in length, easily making it one of the largest mosasaur species to ever live.
Oskar Boettger described this species as 'Phrynocara laeve' based on a single specimen from eastern Madagascar. At the time he described it as being in 'marvellous' condition. Fortunately, it remains in excellent condition today.

For #FossilFriday some news of Master student research. He may have some beaked #whales among the studied specimens 🐬🐬🐬! These strange #Dolphins possess tusks. I am wondering how they looked like during the middle Miocene 🤔Very nice work on the ear, very intriguing animals.
One of the most amazing fossils I have studied is KNM ER 18925, a complete skull and mandible of Theropithecus oswaldi that allowed me to reconstruct the animal's head with unusual confidence. Exepctional specimens like this are a paleoartist's dream! #FossilFriday
