I've heard for a long time that Resident Evil 2 is best played on Gamecube, and I am pleasantly surprised at how good it looks.

Not to mention that texture packs are available on Dolphin, making it possible to see how fans managed to improve the resolution of backgrounds.

Chrono Cross (PS1 Classic): this sorta-sequel to SNES classic Chrono Trigger traded out time travel for travel between parallel worlds. I like that it's brave enough to do its own thing, with a great cast of characters, amazing music, & some of the best prerendered backgrounds.
