"Toots" and "Suri", two peas of a pod!
These #BattleRockets fighters are always on the lookout for unique new challenges. Wherever trouble occurs, "Suri" gives it the ol' Eye Opener, a rapid 3-way blast! "Toots" is rather clumsy, but eager to emulate her sis by using Shot Pass.
@thistidae If I had to give people a tip it would be: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EMULATE MORE ESTABLISHED ARTISTS.
Your goal shouldn't be learning to do exactly what other people do, learn about what they do and then learn how to turn it into something new you do.
Never stop at copying.
Back then I never really used thumbnail sketches to help lay out my pieces into a pleasing composition. I was also trying to work traditionally with materials that didn’t quite work with the style I was trying to emulate and meld into my own.
@yayovos Comms are definitely open and i’ve got various styles if you want me to emulate a pokemon esque illustration!

This is one variant of a yet unnamed organism that absorbs and emulates its prey.
The greyish shell is the actual creature, the red flesh disposable growth.

A little pic that I did, trying to emulate @AidenAbader's artstyle. If you don't follow him, go do it NOW. His art is amazing.
And of course, I had to use my two favorite characters.

Painting isn't about blending, just check out this piece by @cephilacrunch
it's not about using water color brushes and blur brushes
it's about knowing how to use strokes, aswell as using strokes to emulate hard and soft edges

@sweetness_jules Yeah I’ve been trying to emulate Q Hayashida’s art style, which looks like this, because I really like her style of coloring and line work. I am still have quite a long way to go though before I reach that level.
@nonbinarysorrow Hello! Hmm, have you tried CSP’s watercolour brushes? I think the mechanics there are friendlier. Dry brushes are imo harder to emulate. Did a quick test and I’m in no way proficient at watercolour styles (this is my first time trying!) so I may be wrong! -
