Carlo Carrà (Quargnento, 11 febbraio 1881 – Milano, 13 aprile 1966) Il Cavaliere Rosso (Cavallo e cavaliere), 1913
Carlo Carrà was born in Piedmont #onthisday in 1881.
In 1911, Carrà’s direct exposure to Cubism during a visit to Paris had a profound effect on the work of this artistic magpie, as illustrated by drawings such as Synthesis of a Café Concert.

Compared w/W.Bouguereau. Became friend of Paul Durand-Ruel in early 1860s. Ruel began buying paintings by Merle in 1862 & introduced the artist 2 Bouguereau.
This painting, much like Rossetti’s earlier composition of Beata Beatrix that we also featured in DailyArt (please check our archive!) can be interpreted as a memorial to a past love. Mnemosyne by Dante Gabriel Rossetti 1881 🏛 @delartmuseum 📖 https://t.co/Ro2LILuNAU
