#MythologyMonday In some cultures dragonflies symbolise luck, good & bad. If you see one make a wish, it’s sure to come true. Irish myth says that fairies ride them as a means of travel. Some suggest that the dragonfly is a fairy, so to kill one brings bad luck.

Love doesn't discriminate genders, bodies, races, cultures or religions...
Cardian Seiren resembles a mermaid rather than a Greek Siren because in many cultures now, sirens and mermaids are synonymous despite having different mythological origins and appearances. For example, the French word for a mermaid is "sirène." #SailorMoon #SailorMoonTrivia
And has blatant double standards "If you have to look up a pokemon's influence, it's a bad design - With the exception of different cultures"
"Darumaka is supposed to to be based off of daruma dolls - But can you tell that's what it's supposed to be?!"
... YES. 2/2
What ethnic and racial groups dominate Fantasy texts, in terms of characters and writers alike?
Centralising Anglocentric perspectives within Fantasy has lead to the problematic (mis)use and stereotyping of non-Anglocentric cultures as an exotic Other. #GIFCon2021 #PaperPrompts
@cornue @shakemyxmasball Appart from having the deepest respect for Americans, Italians and other cultures we should never dismiss sheep culture as being any less important than our own Christopher.
Star Wars needs to have more stories set in futuristic cities that have unique architecture due to its natives' cultures/species, planet's geology and history, etc.
Getting tired of seeing just forests, deserts, backwater villages, and Imperial military outposts.
24) These Savage Shores
C'est un comic (qui a des faux airs de BD franco-belge) qui met en scène l'affrontement de deux cultures et de deux imaginaires pour parler des ravages de la colonisation. Le découpage est exemplaire et l'écriture l'est tout autant.
Happy Holidays!
These are the Finnish Goat People.
Santa was originally Nuuttipukki and then transformed over time into Joulupukki. Don’t ask. Pukki means billy goat. Goats are big in Europe. Some cultures make giant goats out of branches and make a huge goat bonfire.
I believe for KOF XV, the game will emphasize alot of Chinese cultures and stages.
The fact that now the main character is Shun'ei, and you can already see the change on Benimaru's outfit.
So high hope for Mian, Meitenkun, Li Xiangfei, Duo Lon, Shen, Mui Mui. #KOFXV
One of our more unusual #Christmas postcards features a swastika, c. 1900's This symbol has been in use for 1,000's of years. In late 19th & early 20th C Western cultures used it as a good luck symbol (like a four-leaf clover or a horseshoe) @johncreedon @NMIreland @IrishTimes
@taru_draws Kentaro from Poland, I do digital art as well as traditional. I've got huge interest in Asian cultures and languages
#HarveyHolidays 2020 Day 21:
Your favorite character lighting the Menorah
I imagine Harvey likes learning about different cultures

4/ The earliest known version of this was by Alcuin of York in a 9th cent. manuscript called Propositiones ad Acuendos Juvenes (Problems to Sharpen the Young). His version used wolf + goat + cabbage.
Some version of it appears in the folklore of many European and African cultures
@byelacey My first, and most recent (finished, yet still old). Now that I've started world building, my world (Tocana) has different continents, races/species, religions and gods, cultures and traditions, so Tallia's story has changed a tad.
i dont think this is true in all cultures/families, definitely not mine. but i know it works in some places for some people. there definitely ARE forced unions, as it's happened in my family before, it's what my family expects of me. some of us just follow what our families want. https://t.co/Wo9ceVLm4r
I'M BACK AND READY TO TALK ABOUT DRAGONS
In Asian cultures, dragons are traditionally creatures of water more than fire. While this gets muddled a lot in modern Asia too, it would've been nice to see rep of benevolent water dragons instead of typical fire-breathing ones
Since #carp is trending, I've caught one for you, Doctor!
It's also a sign of fortune in some cultures, so I hope you'll like it.
// Chinese dragons are described as having fish tail and scales of carp.
And then fish and especially koi are lucky symbols in Chinese feng shui
Born with the will of Mother Earth, Zilla was regarded as a God of Destruction in many cultures and most notably titled as GodZilla after it’s clash with Gidorah.
