I keep hoping he'll get his own solo game at some point. He had a really good metroid style game gear game. A sequel to that with today's technology would be amazing I was definitely a huge sonic fan to begin with but Tails grew on me as i went personality wise

SNES limitations are over my head, but I used the SMILE Super Metroid editor to check pallete limitations per sprite/map tile etc.
The tileset could be WAY bigger and with more colours, this is for one screen
Full disclosure: we parted ways because he wanted to make a smaller, simpler game, and I wanted to make an indie Metroidvania along the lines of HOLLOW KNIGHT or HAVE A NICE DEATH.

Most of the other designs choose to make him look less colorful because of his personality, I wanted to make him bioluminicent, so I choose more of neon colors because of the lack of light of the deep sea metro
