What I did was breakdown characters into basic shapes/outlines to get a sense of their structure and how artists make them. Then I tried to replicate it as best as I could myself. Here's the Sonic study

I actually spent 2 hrs trying to work it in before posting the polished rainbow+trans designs. Dark outlines muted the sense of illumination. I tried adding logs & a candle wick but it didn’t read well. Some designs lend themselves better to different versions of the pride flag.
