For night scenes/scenes i want to have intense lighting, i try to lean to a more limited palette so things won’t get muddy. Both of these have difference/normal and multiply adjustments over the flats, hard light highlights-

its flats! I think what makes it is the cohesion with the school colours, the fact that the lineart is a medium dark red multiply layer instead of a black one (multiply makes it so it adjusts to each flat colour) and also little gradients on skin!

The first steps are pretty universal:
First I start with flat colors. Ugly as sin. I always hate how my pages look at this stage.
Then I layer on shadows in a MULTIPLY layer. Still pretty ugly.

I experimented with a new shading style and set my line art to 'multiply' instead of 'color burn'. I like the results. 🥰💖

Dont use black for shading unless ur shading black
Use multiply for shading and add for lighting
I don’t recommend using airbrush for shading
I use multiple colors when shading so it doesn’t look boring
I use fade pen for the bigger parts and dip pen for some strands
