I used my friends' OCs to experiment colours and shading, these are the results as i further understood a bit more about making colours work in the gradient map and the importance of contrast values, probably will use this more oftenly.

Man, one thing I'm learning from painting is just how little I know about drawing. Current painting-in-progress on the left, and editorial illo from a few years back on the right. Didn't realize how little I understood drapery until I tried to describe every fold.
Bless my parents! I expressed to my mom that I really need to draw and work on comms, since I have a lot pending left, and I also need my own funds...She completely understood and bought a plastic table big enough for me to use, and one plastic chair! ++
Just finished re-watching Last Exile..... I cried like a baby.

@16Andyyx personally i would’ve addressed it anyway because i don’t like mischaracterization and to me there’s nothing wrong or rude with conversations about characters (plus i don’t like my skrunkly being misunderstood for what’s literally spelled out in canon) but i digress
@froggman_ 1&2) also Asian characters, when wide-eyed, look fine and normal too! I never understood why cartoons insist on keeping their eyes "squinty" even when shocked. It's annoying and gross.
3) Asian characters can still give "bedroom eyes". It's ok to actually draw them squinting, 1/2
