Actually pretty happy with this little still life practice I did. I'm determined to start painting again in earnest this year. Drapery is a challenge and a half but this was oddly relaxing

Every time I write off John Singer Sargent for being all about superficial drapery and sleeping with his subjects, I come across a painting of his like this...THE MOSQUITO NETS (1908) at has wispy visible brushstrokes making the image seem very spontaneous.

It is wonderful to see what has been digitised by our collection team, I think fans will enjoy this one! It is the drapery study for Desdemona's Death Song (the Willow Song) by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, dating from c.1879-81.

One of his most beautiful works is Boreas. It’s clear he had studied the draperies of Renaissance Venetian art. Boreas (1903), Echo & Narcissus (1903) & Study for Lamia (c1904-5)

Nyx: Aurae nymph cleric. Dark brown skin, super freckly, and rounded nose/face. White curly/thick hair. Dark blue eyes.
Wears drapey layers (ancient greece setting) and her freckles turn white and sparkle like stars in the dark. She's reserved, but very sweet.

Gardeners - Her staff is draped with bags, filled with seeds of all various plants. The leaf like cloak is symbolic to their task, which is the endless endeavour to make Yria verdant again.
I really enjoyed this painting. :)

The Oliver draped over Rin's shoulder came first.

I later simplified Oliver's design for his official ref.

Then when the comic came around I simplified him more by removing back leg patches like I said earlier

For comparison these are all three Ollies

Thank god this isn’t the final cause at some point my dude’s expression went from despairing in a ruined castle that reflected his emotional landscape to a grumpy “oh what the hell? My drapes?!”

2/2 Deposition, for the cathedral in Perugia. Involved, understandably, a lot of grief. Plus rather floating Jesus and billowing drapery. By Federico Barocci, whose day is today.

I discovered the manga/comic effects in clip studio and got carried away. Also colouring is hard, because obvs. If anything, Frankie Adams' face is a nice one to stare at for a while😍I have motivation for once (its to draw pretty ladies)#hitchyourtitsandpuckerup
