From here I add some greyscale values to figure out my lighting. I usually start with a gradient background, sketch in some value, adjust with overlays, and generally fiddle with it till it looks right. Again, polish is for later, this is rough.

It’s when I start adding light sources is when I start to let loose a bit. I started to add more light sources and highlights before reducing it to add more definitive highlights and rim lighting.
