you're right, FE has very little skin tone variation, but even within that narrow range FE *loves* to use dark skin to indicate a character is evil

eg. in FE Awakening, heroes are all light and many villains are darker skinned, including a couple who lowkey look like caricatures

I think I understand why Utena never got a manga faithful reboot. The manga art is very inconsistent it's hard to tell how the characters are supposed to be colored. Most people watched the anime and would have an issue with Anthy not being dark skinned and I understand that.
