In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Ledian was completely different, and his name was Mitsuboshi, meaning "Three Star Ladybug." But he was later redesigned and renamed.

In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Magby evolved at level 15. But he was later redesigned and changed to evolving at level 30 for Gold & Silver's 1999 release versions.

In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Quagsire was originally an unevolved pure Water-type. But Quagsire ended up getting revised to Water/Ground, and given Wooper as a pre-evolution.

In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Pichu was a ball that evolved into Pikachu at level 12. But Pichu was redesigned for G&S's release version, and changed to evolving via happiness.

Oh and by the way, there was some more fan art from 1997 you may have seen, also sometimes referred to as official artwork. But it's from the same source -- a fan who played Gold & Silver's demo, then did his best to recreate what he'd seen in the demo.

In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Mime Jr was originally Normal-type and named Baririina (ballerina/barrier). He was cut from Gen 2, but returned in Gen 4 with a new name and design.
