Fun little thing: finding a style for the sprites of characters in Elequest was tough!
Wanted something that looked suitably accurate to the chars while still looking appealing.

In the end I modelled them after looking at Mario and Luigi: SSS and Final Fantasy 6 (pics 2 and 3)

I just don't like foreheads; they're bulbous and look un-cute, and I find them strangely annoying. That's why I want to karate-chop them, but, unfortunately, a few girls I like show their foreheads. Also strangely, I find short, thicc eyebrows oddly appealing.

At one point in time I considered making Alice's hair red. I tested by taking an already existing image and coloring it in. I also changed her eye and belt color to more mix the change.

But in the end I felt as if this version didn't fit Alice's character or was that appealing

I was to give credit when credit is due. Stephen Silver is an amazing artist. He's good at character design and knows how to make it appealing. Unlike Hartman where he think that adding random color splotches and/or Gaussian blur would make a good background?
