If you prefer your 2D paint program when fixing visible UV seams consider duplicating the mesh and creating a new UV map (UV2) that doesn't share edges with UV1. Bake texture 1 (T1) using UV1 into a new texture (T2) using UV2. Next, fix the seams and bake T2 back into T1.

The thing I'd recommend you focus on the most for now is your values and form rendering - the way you use light and shadow to define shapes. Focus on using light to define *forms* instead of edges, and resist the urge to define every edge.
