SO i have finally learned how to use the multiply and dodge tools in medibang

anyways, this is one of the pierced anime/game guys I like.... Its kinda sad that the two cool pierced fictional guys that I like are from lewd things, isnt it? maybe I should get a life :')

testing out stuff with multiply layers

I use blending layers. For shading, I usually find a color, based on the color of the lighting in the environment I’m drawing them in, shade, then set that layer to multiply and adjust the opacity accordingly. Same with lighting effects but set to glow or overlay

A kinda cel'd Calida. Just wanted one pic where I could see if anything I picked up with the other approach could be applied here. Mostly just color selection I think.

Chair shading is done with the old deep purple multiply layer though

uhhh so I kept fiddling a tiny bit with transparencies and overlay/multiply layers. do not look @ me.

2017>> Basically my first understanding of a multiply layer? I switched to Autodesk Sketchbook and is much more fluid than medibang. I included more photos bc 2017 was the peak of my improvement! I was deep into musicals now..still a finger user!

blendModeを描画ごとに変えるのやってみました.おそらくMULTIPLYなどのシステム変数の利用が,setup,draw関数内の利用に限られているところが原因かもしれません.https://t.co/7mLQoIqeXB

ok but look at the difference multiply and color dodge make

i guess this is it??
(brushes : hard airbrush - niko rull - 6B pencil)
just have to get used to overlay/multiply/color dodge layers for shadows, lighting, and color splash

So, I used to have kind of a convoluted way of doing this - I would have my inkwash painting (I also used to paint elements separately and then compile them in PS) and then mostly use overlay & multiply to achieve colors laid over the inks. These things had sooo many layers.

I got a question about my shading process so I thought I'd share. First has my character flats with their standard colors. Second is the shading layer as it appears under Normal blending mode. Third is that same layer set to Multiply. Last, a pink wash Overlay.

Then above the layer that you just created, make another layer and lock the colours so it doesn't go outside the colours. Change the black layer to multiply so the coloured layers can be seen! You can now see the eyes pop!

trying a "painting with light" technique with multiply on a masking layer and it's rly fun... this needs a lot more polish before I call it a day but for once I'm happy with something still on the 2nd day lmao

i luv progression shots so heres the ones for this. three multiply layers minimum per picture (shadows, darker shadows, dramatic blood layer [non-optional])

🖤 30 sec timelapse + notes:

- shaded using pink tones on multiply (~30 - 42% opacity)
- tetradic color harmony on procreate has become my art bff for shading :,)
- brushes: peppermint (sketch, modified), SAI Ink, SAI Lineart / Shading (found on procreate forum)

The 3.10 PTU update for is actually pretty cool! But issues seem to be multiplying. 🤣🤣🤣
