One SAI crash and frustration caused by the former later, i finally finished this!
This was a request drawing by of his character Alpine! I could not color it due to the crash fucking up the layers and it lost quite a bit of it's detail, but i hope you like it!

I kept the puffin in flat shapes, with no detail, & added a background. It didn't work as the background didn't register correctly & the poor puffin looked stuck on. This is what I call the ugly stage of a painting and you have to persist and rub the painting down and keep going

Mahdieh has all her knobs tuned very similarly to how I like mine tuned - the correct level of detail, anatomy, light, color, weight

First I try to focus on composition and shape without detail,
then I go crazy with colours and textures (my favourite part). Details are the nice little cherry on top.
