19 July 1918. First attack in history made by aircraft flying from a carrier flight deck. Seven Sopwith Camels flew from HMS Furious and destroyed two German Zeppelins, L.54 and L.60 and a captive balloon during The Tondern raid. Art by Steve Anderson.

I’ve also illustrated another member of 364th Infantry, 91st Division: Capt. Leonard Wattelet, a minor league ball player for the Seattle Siwashes, who was killed just outside Waregem on October 31st, 1918. He is buried at Flanders Fields American Cemetery.
