With sporadic comics like this, I usually just start doodling disjointed sketches that start to come together into a story and then I just adjust and fix the proportions to fit a page. Not the most structural process but whatever

Test with character added. I like having characters and backgrounds done in slightly different styles so the characters stand out, but it's hard to make it not look totally disjointed.
