先週ふと眼にした絵の筆触から、幼少時より刺さったままのカイム・スーティン／シャイム・スーチン（Chaïm Soutine）の棘を思いだし、それがどうして、どの様に、どんな棘として刺さっているのかを知りたくなり、画業を網羅した９Cmほどの厚みをもつ画集をヤフオクで落札してみた。

19歳で初めてChaim Soutineの原画の前に立ったとき脳が揺れた。
憧れても絶対に届かない圧倒的な存在。イラストを始めるまで殆ど絵を描かなかったのも彼の存在が大きかった気がする。何を描いてもSoutineに比べたらおままごとにしか感じないのだから。
