#Dinovember DAY 3: Skull
The sun bleached skull of a Quetzelcoatlus rests on a chunk of basalt rock.
Croctober is over but that's not stopping me, today with Astorgosuchus, a potentially giant, basal crocodyloid from Oligocene Pakistan that may have fed on Paraceratherium (art by @HodariNundu who is among the few to have illustrated it)
A bit of a speculative doodle, in light of capcom's official cladogram classifying fanged wyverns as saurichians.
So I just imagined a possible basal/common ancestor, with great great grandchild Zin to scale
Third known skeleton of the basal therizinosauroid Beipiaosaurus. https://t.co/Zj1uuUsNQl
Pastel Paleotober Day 24: Juramaia 🐁
Juramaia was a basal eutherian mammal from late Jurassic China and is the earliest known relative of all placental mammals. Its discovery showed that the lineages of placental mammals and marsupials had diverged before the Cretaceous.
Just going to throw it out there if anyone is interested. Basal(lava salamander) hasn't had any interactions. Zom has quite a long history, Phorus(furnace golem) was created for a short-lived rp then for dnd, and then Clover, a dancefell variant.
Sometimes you can't help but want to draw a big theropod. Every Paleoartist does at some point. This time I bring you a very speculative reconstruction of the enigmatic and very large North African theropod Bahariasaurus as a large basal Coelurosaurian.
A pair of Paleoart reconstructions: Telmasaurus and Squalodon.
Telmasaurus was a medium sized basal Varanoid (a stem-Monitor lizard if you will) from the Late Cretaceous Flaming Cliffs of Mongolia. Squalodon is a macropredatory Platanistoid whale from the Oligocene and Miocene.
WIP and probably gonna change the color of the ground to be more like basalt and be a tad blackish. Lava fields/dead lands basically. I am a bit of an astronomy nerd, so I got carried away with their solar system and local planets and moons and shit lol.
Chang'e-5 sample updates (3/4): Three papers are published in @Nature TODAY TOGETEHR. Hu et al., 2021 proposed the CE-5 basalts have a maximum 283 and 1-5 ppm water content in the parent magma and mantle source; dryer than Apollo mantle source region #CNSA https://t.co/o99Vr7wXU6
